Language Arts- We will identify and use new vocabulary words. Vocabulary test Friday.
Because it took us longer to complete Tom Sawyer, we will continue the study of commas, semi-colons, colons, and quotation marks. Thursday we will read a short story, “Duffy’s Jacket”, and discuss retelling story events.

Math- Begin Chapter 5. We will find the prime factorization of a composite number, find the greatest common factor of two or more numbers, and write fractions in simplest form.

Finally Fall is here!!! Don’t you love the weather?

Language Arts- We will finish reading Tom Sawyer and take a test upon completion. We will then begin review of commas, simi-colons, colons, and quotation marks.

Math- We will continue the study of bar graphs, line graphs, and histograms. The goal is to have a Chapter 2 test Friday.

September 28, 2007 - No Responses

Language Arts- We will discover and use new vocabulary words. Read and listen to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. We will study setting, point of view, mood, cause and effect, plot, and sequence. A test will follow the completion of the study.

Math- We began Chapter 2 Thursday. This week we will be concentrating on graphs, constructing and interpreting line plots, mean, median, and mode.

Language Arts- We will continue discussing the use of punctuation. Most of the week will be spent reviewing commas and their different uses. We will have a vocabulary test Friday.

Math- Chapter 1 continued. We will discuss changing metric units of length, capacity, and mass. The last skill of the chapter will be writing numbers greater than 100 in scientific notation and in standard form. We will have a chapter review Thursday and a chapter test Friday.

Please remember that we may have to vary from the planned schedule.

Language Arts-
Monday-Tuesday- Steps to writing a five paragraph essay.
Wednesday-Friday- Identify the correct use of end puncuation and using commas correctly.

Math-
Monday- Chapter 1 Mid-Chapter Test
Tuesday-Friday- use addition and multiplication properties to solve problems, recognize and extend patterns for sequences, change metric units of length, capacity, and mass.

Agenda for the week of September 10, 2007

September 7, 2007 - No Responses

Language Arts- The week will be spent reading from various selections. Tuesday we will begin “Three Skeleton Key.” This story is in the literature book. A selection test will be given upon completion.

Math- We are in Chapter 1. We will be working on variables and expressions, equations, algebra properties, sequences, metric system, and scientific notation. Quizes will be scattered throughout the completion of different sections. A chapter test will be given after we finish the chapter.
