I hope everyone had a great two days off. We all needed a rest.
The following is my plan for this week. Realize, however, that we might have to adjust.

7th Grade

Language Arts-Begin Poetry Unit

Math- Monday-Write percents as decimals
Tuesday-find the LCM of two or more numbers
Wednesday and Thursday-compare and order fractions, decimals, and percents.
Friday-Chapter Review

8th Grade
Language Arts- Monday-Identify and use new vocabulary words
Complete novel study
Tuesday and Wednesday- Identify adjectives and the words they modify.
Thursday-watch movie from novel study
Friday-Vocabulary Test

Math- Monday-Percents and decimals
Tuesday-Least Common Multiples
Wednesday and Thursday-compare and order fractions, decimals, and percents
Friday-Chapter Review

7th Grade-

-Recognize prepositions and prepositional phrases and their function in sentences.
Math-Write fractions as decimals and decimals as fractions
-Quiz Monday
-Mid-Chapter Test Tuesday
-Write fractions as percents and percents as fractions.
-Think Link Testing on Thursday and Friday.

8th Grade-
Language Arts- Identify and use new vocabulary words. Test Friday.
-Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday-complete reading of novel.
-Thursday and Friday-prepositions and prepositional phrases.
Math-Write fractions as decimals and decimals as fractions.
-Quiz Monday
-Mid-Chapter Test Tuesday
-Write fractions as percents and percents as fractions.
-Think Link Testing on Thursday and Friday.

7th Grade

Language Arts- We will complete our study of The Outsiders. This will include a final test and watching the movie.
Math- Write fractions in simplest form and as terminating or repeating decimals. We will have a mid-chapter test Friday.

8th Grade

Language Arts- We will continue our study of Tex.
Math-We will begin our study of fractions. We will have a mid-chapter test Friday.

7th Grade-
Language Arts- Identify and use new vocabulary words.
Test-Friday
We will begin and continue a novel study. The book we are going to read is The Outsiders. I know that your children will enjoy this study.
Math- Monday and Tuesday will be spent on changing metric units of length, capacity, and mass. On Wednesday and Thursday will we write numbers that are greater than 100 in scientific notation and standard form. Math Vocabulary Test-Friday.

8th Grade
Language Arts- Monday-Guidance
Identify and use new vocabulary words. Test on Friday. We will begin a novel study, “Tex” on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to reading this book with the children. It was written by the same author that wrote The Outsiders and the children loved that.
Math-Monday and Tuesday will be spent changing metric units of length, capacity, and mass. We will write numbers greater than 100 in scientific notation and standard form on Wednesday and Thursday. Math Vocabulary Test-Friday.

Language Arts-Continue the week by working on sentence/fragment.

Begin working on Chapter 1. This week we will be working powers and exponents, order of operations, algebraic expressions.

8th Grade-
Language Arts- We will work the entire week on sentences/fragments, subjects/predicates.
Math- Chapter test Tuesday
The rest of the week will be spent on powers and exponents, order of operations, algebraic expressions.

We have had a great week. The children are working so hard and seem to be getting in the swing of things.
You will find my plans for this week. Please remember that I may not be able to follow it all the time.

7th Grade

Read “Three Skeleton Key”
Identify sentences/fragments, subjects/predicates.
Math- Multiply integers

8th Grade
Language Arts- Vocabulary Test Friday
Read “The Monkey’s Paw” and “The Third Wish”- compare and contrast.

We had a great first week!! I am enjoying getting to know your children. I hope they have had positive things to say.
We are going to dive in this week. Remember, my agenda may change. I try to stick with it as much as possible, but sometimes things happen and we have to adjust.

7th Grade
Language Arts – identify and use new vocabulary words. There will be a test Friday. We will analyze main conflict in plot. We are going to read “Rikki-tikki-tavi”. We will begin review of nouns and pronouns.
Math- We are in chapter 3. The plan is to graph points on coordinate plane, mid-chapter test Tuesday, subtract and multiply integers.

8th Grade
Language Arts- identify and use new vocabulary words. We will summarize plot structure and read “Broken Chain”. We will begin review of subjects and predicates.
Math- We are working on Chapter 1. There will be a MId-Chapter Test Tuesday. We will continue working on subtracting and multiplying integers.

I hope this helps your child to keep up. Additional assignments will be written in the agenda books. Please check this every night to make sure they are writing down assignments.

I’m so excited about this year. I know it’s going to be a year filled with hard work, fun, and making memories.
Our first week back will be spent going over rules, guidelines, testing, and organization.
